10 months

And so it truly begins.

60 more days until we are ONE. No more will we ever have one digit in our number of months. We can never go back. Only forward. Pretty soon we will have two digits in our year. Then we will be a teen. Then in our 20's. And if she's lucky, she will one day have three numbers in her age.

But right now...right now...we will enjoy her as she is. 10 months old

What are you DOIN' ma?

Have to share

This is a post from a fellow preemie mom and blogger. She has put into words BEAUTIFULLY the issue I've been struggling with. That of those dratted milestones. She put it all into perspective. It is sooo true and just shows to me that the milestones really are not that important. She will learn all that she needs to do in her own time.

So without further ado...

???

We totally got one of these:

It's breaking through and you can definitely see it's shape. She won't let me get a picture of it and it's too deep in there still to see it without holding her mouth open and her tongue back. Am I a mean mommy for being completely and utterly excited about this??

And we tried puffs today. And, well, we loved them. Not at first...in fact our first reaction was EWWW but then, the more we chewed, the more we were like...these aren't that bad and now we dive for them.

Fun day!!! What other milestones will we meet this week lol!

Absolutely crazy busy weekend

So....

We had an absolutely crazy weekend. To start, we celebrated our first birthday...11 weeks early.

I didn't really get too many pictures. These were courtesy of my brother in laws girlfriend. We were quite a bit too busy with trying to occupy an over tired, over stimulated 9 month old as well as play host and hostess. Overall, it was great to see some good friends we hadn't seen in forever. If throwing a birthday party for Elisa is the way to do it then maybe we should celebrate her birthday 11 weeks early, on the actual day AND on her supposed to be birthday lol.

Next, since family was already in town, we decided to have her baptism.

We couldn't decide what was more exciting...the water or that we were once again the center of attention.

And last, but not least, we bit the bullet and decided to finally give her a bath in the "big girl tub." Guess I should be afraid of letting her near water...

I've also put together this video of Elisa, from birth until 9 months. I want to do this again for her actual year but I wanted this for her party and, obviously, don't have a years worth of pictures yet. :)

Ok...bed now. I've got a long week ahead.

And we are army crawling!

I will get a video at some point...but we can officially add "crawling" to our list of developmental skills. It's army/commando style but gone are the days of leaving us to our own devices unattended....we definitely do not stay where we are put.

Signs of Pre-term labor

It's probably no surprise that anything to do with preemies and raising awareness for pre-term labor is becoming a passion of mine. I remember being particularly worried about this throughout my pregnancy with Elisa and was always looking for information on what exactly pre-term labor was so that I could recognize it if it started happening to me.

Little did I know I would actually experience it, and I did not fall into any of the categories of symptoms I could find. I did not experience what I would call menstral cramps. It was a constant low down pelvic pain. It did not come and go. It stayed. And only in the evening. I did not have pressure. I did have an increase in discharge BUT I was told this was "normal" third trimester symptoms.

This is a cheesy video put out by the March of Dimes but it does give some different symptoms than even I experienced. But it's good information. It is so surprising to me to think that 1 in 8 babies are born early.

It's also a bit surprising that high risk mom's for pre-term labor are those who are under a lot of stress. Guess I really should learn to control that stress part of my personality.

UGH

That's all I have to say today. Just wasn't ready for Monday. Doesn't help that buggar is going through a growth spurt so we are up multiple times a night begging for food. We've had several 36 oz days and yesterday was a 41 oz!?

On a positive note...we are even closer to crawling. Apparently diapers and toes are our favorite thing to go after.

Ok. Back to the day. Is bed an option?

So I have a personality....

Here are two video's for your enjoyment. The first is our dinner conversation last night. I LOVE her facial expressions. She is definitely into telling us her story. I can't wait to actually UNDERSTAND her story.

The next is from our playtime at Grandma's today. We decided we didn't care how we got to play with the toy, as long as we got to play with it.

Good news is we decided to sit for a little bit....

Proof that we just needed the right motivation?

So, did we decide to do all the things mommy was upset over because we saw mommy break down last week? In one day?

This was our morning

What do you think? Are we RIGHT THERE or what?
